These following weeks I will be doing blog entries based on prisoners of the prison camps of the Nazis. Helene Melanie Lebel was taken to a prison camp located in Brandenburg, Germany. She was Jewish and was schizophrenic, this means that she couldn’t tell the difference between what is real and what isn’t. So, when Germany annexed Austria, she was taken to the prison camp because the Nazis thought that people with mental disorders were insane. Germans wanted to create a “perfect” race so there wouldn’t be any mental disorders or any of the “undesirables”, by their definition, that would hinder the Germans from the title of the “perfect” race. As many people know, when someone was taken to the showers, in one of the Nazi’s prison camps, they were to be gassed. Sadly, Helene Melanie Lebel was gassed because of having mental disorders, and being Jewish.
